Abstract
Coefficients of reflection and transmission of electromagnetic waves in a frequency interval of 1–10 kHz are numerically calculated for the passage through a flat inhomogeneous layer of the lower ionosphere in the presence of a strong local perturbation of the atmosphere. A point source of energy is used to simulate the perturbation. When the perturbation passes through the layer of the lower ionosphere, the wave transmission coefficient sharply decreases within 1–2 min while the diagonal components of the matrix of reflection coefficients increase to almost unity.
